Why do I need to wear sunscreen?
SPF – you may also know this as sun cream, sunscreen, sun block, sun lotion. Sun Protection Factor is basically a level of protection from the harmful rays which can cause skin damage (sun burn). These harmful rays are known to contribute towards skin cancer and the level of protection varies due to the factor number. The higher the factor, the more protection it offers before needing to reapply.
SPF products also prevent premature ageing
SPF doesn’t just protect from skin cancer, it also protects our skin from premature wrinkles. Recent studies have shown that the humble SPF also fights against photoaging – such a wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. That’s right!
The sun makes us feel happy – it boosts our mood and a little tan makes us feel better in our clothes. Protection is a vital though – even if you tan easily. It is easy to think that fair skin complexions are the most vulnerable – maybe they are but there are no exceptions on skin types when it comes to including SPF in to your daily routine.
Does makeup contain SPF?
The beauty industry continues to evolve and develops amazing technology and ingredients. SPF is included in so many cosmetics from skincare to makeup, hair products to body creams. While SPF cosmetics are not a substitute for full sunscreen, they do provide extra protection and reassurance.
From minimal through to Factor 50 – there are some amazing products on the market. In my latest article in British Bride magazine I have selected some of my favourite beauty products that offer sunscreen protection.
