I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to be the Beauty Editor for new luxury bridal and lifestyle magazine British Bride.
I received an email from Editor-in-Chief, James Clarke asking me to join the team and it took all of 3 seconds to accept this amazing opportunity. I first met James last year working on a photoshoot at Lady Colin Campbell’s abode Castle Goring. Amongst James’ many talents, he is an amazing designer of luxury couture pieces with a seriously impressive career in fashion. Infact only a couple of weeks ago, through conversation I learned James’ back story to how he started his career working extra hours around the clock at Tesco whilst studying fashion at Central Saint Martins in London to enable him to afford nicer fabrics to work during his studies, through to the incredible twist of fate that took him on adventures with some of the biggest names in fashion and the A-list celebrity world. I have retold his story to friends so many times already as it is the most captivating story of success I have ever heard… and what I admire most is the fact that if it wasn’t for a conversation that led to this story I wouldn’t have known about his incredible life… there is not a single shred of ego which I find so refreshing. I meet lots of people in this industry with egos that don’t even justify having one! So, to be asked to join his team was a no-brainer and I knew his plans for the magazine would be fabulous.
Currently I am on a team of 5 Editors – and we are all responsible for different sections.
Also on the team (aside from myself and James) we have;
Lindsay Pemberton – Managing Editor – Lindsay makes bespoke delicious and visually stunning cakes and patisserie. If you are looking for a luxury wedding cake, you definitely need a Lindsay Pemberton creation!
Susannah Parker – Event Planning Editor – Susannah leads Couture Events and has over 15 years experience planning and arranging luxury events and private parties in prestigious and iconic venues in London and surrounding areas. She has a fantastic reputation with some of the UK’s finest wedding suppliers and can create a bespoke wedding like no other!
Rachel Sokhal – Accessories Editor – Rachel is an award winning bridal accessories designer. Her pieces are exquisite and timeless and she can create a piece designed personally for you.
So what a team to be part of, hey? I’m so excited!
One of the best things about taking on this role is how it will blend beautifully with my freelance Makeup Artistry work. Being a multi-award winning Makeup Artist and Bridal Specialist, I pride myself on providing a luxury standard service when it comes to experience and product knowledge. Bridal Makeup Artistry is a specialism. Often a bride wants to just be a more polished version of their usual self so its a fine balance of making the bride feel “made up” but not over done. That said, I do have a diverse mix of brides booking in with me. Due to my creative portfolio of work I often also get alternative brides or themed wedding bookings too – because guess what, a wedding is a personal event and these days anything goes! Whatever makes that bride feel special is what I aim to do.
As part of my role I am chatting to industry experts all around the UK and cosmetic brands who are advising me on must-have new treatments/procedures for skincare and aesthetics, products for hair and makeup, bridal nail inspiration and wellness products to ensure a calm, relaxed lead up to the dream wedding. I love learning about all of new updates in the industry and it means I can also pass this knowledge on to my clients… and I am also creating a panel of industry experts who represent each section of the beauty industry to answer your questions about anything and everything beauty related.
Anyway, we are now nearing completion of the first issue and having seen little previews of various articles I cannot wait to see the published end result. A few weeks ago I hot-footed it over to luxury wedding venue, Chicheley Hall to work on the front cover of the first issue (as well as an editorial for inside of the magazine) and I am SO excited to share the images with you but for now, they remain under wraps and will be shared when the magazine is published. However here is a sneaky glimpse to our beautiful bridal cover girl Lisa…

Keep those eyes peeled – British Bride is going to be the must-have inspo magazine for that dream luxury wedding…
