When you’re on holiday the last thing you want to do is pack your full makeup bag and coat your face in lots of products. Especially if you have a nice holiday tan… this is the perfect time to go for less coverage and a fresher look. Even if you are not going abroad you might just have lots of summer fun planned in the UK. Don’t spend your precious down time by sitting in front of the mirror doing a full application. I achieved this fresh, glowing look in under 10 minutes… follow my quick guide to achieving the perfect holiday makeup in super quick time! Believe me, its possible!
STEP 1 – Cleanse and moisturise
I cleansed my face and moisturised my skin with Frankincense and Rose face cream by Amphora Aromatics Ltd and applied Charlotte Tilbury’s award winning primer “Wonderglow” to give my skin an illuminating glow.
STEP 2 – Under-eye concealer
I added NARS radiant under-eye creamy concealer in “Vanilla” and patted lightly under my eye until the concealer had blended in to my skin. Be careful with the skin under your eyes – its very thin. Always pat lightly – never drag the skin.
STEP 3 – BB Cream
Next I used MAC BB cream all over my face (except under my eyes). For those who don’t know, BB cream is an abbreviation for Beauty Balm and it is the lightest form of coverage and perfect for those who like a sheer, barely there look or for use on holiday. The under-eye concealer and BB cream evened out my skin tone and my base was now ready to add a bit of colour. As BB cream is very light it still allowed my freckles to show. Some people hate their own freckles. Personally I love mine. As I have got older I have taken more pride in looking after my skin and also feel my freckles look youthful which is always a bonus! So I don’t like to cover them up too much. Before starting the next step I used MAC Lip Scrubtious in “Candied Nectar” which is a lip exfoliator and takes all of the dead skin off your lips and also tastes delicious!
STEP 4 – Eyes
Using my fingers I dabbed Urban Decay’s “Midnight Cowboy Rides Again” all over my eyelids. I used Charlotte Tilbury’s brown eyeliner pencil in “The Classic Audrey” in my waterline and smudged underneath my eyes and finished it off with 2 coats of mascara in Maybelline’s “The False Lash” in black.
Step 5 – Bronzer, blusher, highlighter
Using MAC’s bronzer in “Bronze” (that’s imaginative) I dusted the bronzer across my cheeks and under my cheekbones, across my temples and around my jawline. This look isn’t about heavy contouring – I wanted this look to be fresh and not heavy. I then added MAC crème blusher in “Ladyblush” across the apples of my cheeks and finished it all off with Sleek’s highlighting palette in “Solstice”. The Solstice palette does not include names for the colours inside but I used the bottom right colour which is basically a warm gold highlighter. I brushed this across my cheeks, in my cupids bow and in the inner corners of my eyes.
STEP 6 – Lips
So lastly, I finished this whole look off with a MAC lipstick called “Half and Half” which is a gorgeous nude colour and suits most skin tones and topped it off with a MAC clear lip gloss called “Lip Glass”.
SO, this full look took less than 10 minutes. Its quick and fresh looking with a light base which means your skin won’t feel as clogged up with products in the heat. You can of course make small subtle changes if you prefer a more dramatic look for evening. You could add lashes, go for a darker lip or even add a darker, smokey eye but if its a quick, low maintenance radiant look you’re after then this is easy!
Oh, by the way, I will be wearing this look for my own holiday shortly. You might have noticed the Mickey Mouse ears above. I am flying off for some Florida fun so I added these Mickey Mouse ears which were £2 from Primark and amazing value for kids and teens who love all things Disney. For those who have been lucky enough to visit the Disney parks you will know that the official Disney ears merchandise are much more costly than £2 so get yourself to Primark to grab this bargain while they’re still in stock!
