Just another “MUA”? No – and I hate that term…
I was asked to write about myself recently for an article in British Bride magazine, explaining who I am and what I do. Have you ever tried to write about yourself? It’s so hard! You want to tell everyone all of the amazing things you get up to but without sounding like a brag-fest. So it took me a while…
I’m all about honesty and real makeup for real women…
I decided to write with honesty and authenticity about my thoughts on makeup – how makeup can be edited on social media to show flawless and unrealistic expectations for real women. I wanted to talk about how I hate being referred to as an “MUA’ because its so easy for hobbyists to sit in their bedroom, apply their own makeup for You Tube and then add MUA to their social media handles. Don’t get me wrong, I support up and coming Makeup Artists and love seeing selfies of makeup creations but there is a world of difference between applying your own makeup and applying it on a clients with different skin tones, face shapes, skin types etc. I am very passionate about creating beautiful makeup for red carpet events and brides and have a personal zero-edit stance on my own iPhone snaps of makeup applications on clients and models. What you see if what you get.
Did you know I am also a Beauty Editor of a glossy Bridal magazine and Creative Beauty Director for a glossy fashion/editorial magazine?
As well as being a Makeup Artist – I write and talk about beauty… I spend a huge amount of time working on content for 2 magazines. I give honest product reviews, compare products, talk about beauty trends in terms of looks, products and treatments…
This work really compliments my makeup artistry as it provides extensive knowledge on using different products, skincare etc which I pass on to my own clients. This knowledge is invaluable and I now run a Beauty Group on social media along with gal pal Makeup Artist Anna Cordelia where we provide twice weekly lives offering advice and beauty chat.
