Back to the 90s

Back in the 90s, I was still enjoying the indie music scene when the Spice Girls had just started to zig-a-zig-ah. Not to say I wasn’t a fan - they were different and everyone could identify with one of them (in the fashion sense). I see Buffalo boots are back on trend after taking a hiatus and I had a pair that made me 8 ft 5 🤣

When they released “Too Much” I saw them sing it live (well mimed...) on Top of the Pops and an explosion of heart emojis erupted! It was the first time I ever really admired makeup on a celebrity. The grungy metallic smokey eyes, glitter under the lower lash line and the brown lips. The glitter eye was a look I replicated every Thursday for my night out (back in the day when it was reasonable to go out on a Thursday night taking £20 which paid for a taxi both ways, a belly full of cocktails, entry in to the nightclub and a pizza to take home... then get up for college the next day without a hint of a hangover)... Earlier this week I did a copper eye look and I thought I would just add a little 90s twist today with a metallic foil on the eyelid - channeling my inner Spice Girl - Quarantined Bored Spice.

Portwine stain birthmark camouflage makeup cover up

I was asked by cosmetics brand Veil Cover Cream to cover a large portwine stain birthmark using their camouflage makeup - for the purpose of a promotional video to showcase their full coverage makeup. Adam volunteered as a "real life" model as he has with a large birthmark which runs from the full side of his face, down his neck, his chest and down his arm. He was curious to try Veil on the basis he had tried lots of other products previously but nothing had covered his birthmark particularly well. So we filmed the before, the process and after the application.
I remember his reaction vividly when we did his reveal... it was emotional for all of us. Adam had never seen his face without the birthmark.

It was such a priveledge to work on this particular advert for Veil with Adam. Things like this remind me how much I love what I do.
